Description
WorldService Project (WSP) are a contemporary quintet formed in 2008, largely playing the music of pianist and composer Dave Morecroft. Combining lyricism with a burning intensity, WSP manipulate driving structures into a sound-world of unruly progressions and flowing melodic phrases, with improvisation and groove always at the heart of their playing. WSP create edgy and experimental music with a smile on its face.
Recently, the band have been shortlisted for the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award 2009, as well as gaining a support slot to jazz/punk giants Acoustic Ladyland and future bookings at the York Late Music, Isle of Wight and Marlborough Jazz Festivals. Featuring Tim Ower (saxophones), Raph Clarkson (trombone), Dave Morecroft (piano/keys), Conor Chaplin (bass) and Neil Blandford (drums).
